in Control Scotland
In Control Scotland was set up to transform the organisation of social care and support in Scotland so that people gain more control over their support and their lives, and fulfil their role as full citizens.
Initially, in Control http://www.in-control.org.uk operated only in England. Throughout 2006, however, the two founding members of in Control Scotland - ALTRUM and the Scottish Consortium for Learning Disability - worked together to establish in Control in Scotland. This work bore fruit, and since 4 December 2006, with the help of a grant from the Scottish Executive, in Control Scotland has been up and running. Now there are, 15 local authorities and over 25 support providers have become in Control Scotland members, taking part in its leadership for change programmes. The founders and development team have forged partnerships to promote and develop self directed support and individual budgets in Scotland. in Control Scotland can be contacted: ■ at Keith Etherington In Control Scotland Co-ordinator
